Golden Pride East in Albuquerque, NM, stands as a savory sanctuary for lovers of authentic barbecue and Southwestern flavors. This vibrant barbecue and burrito restaurant, located at 10101 Central Ave NE #1, expertly marries the smoky richness of classic ribs and BBQ chicken with the hearty tradition of New Mexican breakfast burritos, delivering a menu that celebrates bold, familiar tastes with every bite.
Step through the doors and you’re immediately welcomed by a bustling atmosphere where the scent of slow-smoked ribs and freshly made tortillas fills the air. Golden Pride East’s true culinary stars shine bright: their succulent Rib Combo brims with tender, fall-off-the-bone meat bathed in a flavorful BBQ sauce that lingers just long enough to keep you coming back for more. Equally irresistible is the BBQ Chicken, perfectly grilled and smoked, harmonizing smoky spices with juicy tenderness. And just when you think you’ve found the ultimate comfort dish, the Frontier Sweet Roll arrives—warm, fluffy, and sweet, offering a divine counterbalance to the smoky mains.
Breakfast lovers are in for a treat too. The breakfast burritos are revelations of New Mexican cuisine. Imagine biting into a warm tortilla embracing eggs, hash browns, melty cheese, and that unmistakably smoky, mildly spicy green chile—each variation nuanced with additions like carne adovada or crispy bacon. At just a few dollars apiece, these burritos are as accessible as they are delicious, making Golden Pride East a perfect stop for any meal of the day.
Sides here elevate the experience even further. Creamy mac and cheese, tangy cole slaw, and crispy western hash browns amplify the hearty plates, while the Green Chile Stew or Posole offer warming bowls packed with deep, traditional New Mexican flavors. Customers also rave about the freshly made tortillas—warm, pliable, and just the right touch to complete any dish, whether enjoyed on-site or brought home to share, as Jennifer Martinez delightedly attests.
The dining experience at Golden Pride East is characterized by its welcoming, no-nonsense charm. The restaurant manages to serve a high volume of hungry patrons with impressively fast and friendly service, even during peak hours—a fact Jason Busher praises while noting the only minor downside being that the décor could use some updating. Yet this humble setting somehow enhances the authenticity, making each plate feel like a genuine, home-cooked meal.
Golden Pride East isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a beloved local institution; a place where the smoky aroma of ribs triggers nostalgia and the comforting warmth of green chile-infused breakfast burritos fuels long days. Regulars like Randall Cooper and Lewis Tromp consider it a must-try and a dependable companion through busy mornings or a satisfying finale to a hard day. Whether you’re a local or passing through Albuquerque, this is the spot where hungry appetites meet rich New Mexican tradition in every mouthwatering bite.
The legends are true! Finally made it here and got the rib combo & sweet roll. I immediately wanted to come back to try a breakfast burrito. Both the chicken & rib were cooked perfectly & loaded with flavor. And let's not talk about how wonderful the sweet roll was. Service was extremely fast for such a busy restaurant. My only criticism is the decor needs a bit of refurbishing. I'll be back!
The Carne Adovada burritos are so good! The smoked pork ribs are excellent!! The FOOD, SERVICE and ATMOSPHERE are GREAT!! This is a must try restaurant!!!
Definitely one of the best things about living in New Mexico, Golden Pride. If you come here from Colorado, it’s like paying half price for burritos. Thank you for being open when I’ve needed you most, like after delivering 51 Amazon packages before 8 am on 4th of July. You were the highlight of my 4th. And any other day I’ve visited. I’d eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here if I lived next door. The fried chicken and ribs are amazing too, don’t limit yourself to the breakfast burritos!
This may be the Hugest Golden Pride in Albuquerque. In the International District this facility has popular Drive Through but uf yiu go inside, Wow, it’s palatial.
Just swung by to grab fresh and still warm tortillas to take back home for my family. They were absolutely delicious and perfect to add to our family dinner. Just the right touch, and family was happy!
This place is awesome. Prices are cheap and the food is delicious. The carne adovado burritos are phenomenal. The tortillas are all homemade. Cinnamon rolls are huge and amazing.
I've cruised by this location for a while and have been wanting to try it. Today for lunch I finally dropped in. It's a great location and atmosphere for a meal and lives up to the legendary Frontier feel. Tasty, reasonable prices, consistent, and timely as usual. Friendly staff. Highly recommended!
